Compassionate Pug Rescue

Pugs Available for Adoption

The following pugs are available for adoption or have already been placed in loving homes. CPR only accepts applications from residents of Florida. All of our pugs are spayed/neutered, current on shots, and heartworm negative. Every pug is seen by a veterinarian prior to being offered for adoption and has been treated for any known health problems. Our adoption fee depends on the health and age of the pug. One hundred percent of this fee is put back into CPR to pay for the medical expenses and treatment of our rescue pugs. You must fill out an adoption application if you're interested in adopting a pug from CPR.

Hello World!

Boy is it tough out there! I’m a 12lb tiny young girl who got into some ‘trouble’ and wound up having a few babies completely on my own on the rough streets of Miami! We were in dire straits! Luckily we were picked up by county animal services who got CPR on the case “STAT.” My babies and I were rushed to the hospital and immediately attended to.  Finally I found myself surrounded by people who knew how to treat a Pug. We were covered in fleas and over 1,000 ticks! Unfortunately, one of my two babies didn’t make it. But me and my Lil Peanut are now in a foster home being lavished in Pug luxury!

I am a little on the shy side (can you blame me?) but will warm up to you and cuddle.  I am very sweet and starting to come out of my shell.  I’ll be even more happy when my hair grows back in and will be thrilled to find a forever home that will never let anything like this happen to me again.  I will be getting spayed (Yay!) and during my recovery I will be reviewing potential homes suitable for a Pug like me. Love is the first on my checklist! How about you?

Please fill out an adoption application because you know that I would make a great addition to your home and family!

*Please note that Faith is “in waiting” and will be spending a little bit more time in foster care, recouperating before she’ll be ready for her forever home.  We gladly accept applications from those interested in adopting Faith during this waiting period.

Hi there!

I’m Lil’ Peanut and in my short few weeks of life I have been through a lot! My Pug Mommy and I were found under a tree by county animal services completely covered in fleas and ticks. It was yucky! And I didn’t feel very well. But these nice people from CPR (whatever that means) picked us up and took us straight to the hospital where they got all the itchy fleas and icky mean ticks off of us. We stayed there awhile and now I’m feeling great!

Right now, I live in a foster house that even has A/C! I get to play (i love toys), eat yummy food and get lots o’ lovins! I’m super happy but would absolutely love to have a home with people of my own who will always be there to love me, teach me manners and to go potty like the big pugs!  I know who my Mommy is , she’s a great Pug named Faith! But I never met my Daddy so everybody keeps looking at me to see who else I resemble. I don’t know what the big deal is.  I just wanna be happy! Will you make me happy?

If you think you have what it takes to care for me for the rest of my life, then please fill out an adoption application!

*Note, Peanut is “in waiting” and will spend a little bit more time in foster care until we are confident is in 100% tip-top shape and ready for adoption.  In the meantime, we gladly accept applications from those intersted in giving Peanut her forever home.

Hi Everyone… I’m Papito!  And boy am I a lucky guy.

You see, I was left at county animal services with a very uncertain future.  Thanks to CPR, I was rescued and placed in my foster home right away. The first thing they did for me when I arrived to my home was to gave me a long bath… I was so happy that I started kissing both of them.  I am limping a little because when I arrived at the shelter my toenail that was embedded into my front paw needed to be cut out.  Boy did that hurt having that nail in my paw!  Then my foster mom gave me a 50 calories mozzarella cheese, yes a low calorie cheese to watch my full figure.  Oh boy!!!  Do I love cheese !!

Everyone sees my gray hair, you can not hide being old age.. I might walk slow but I follow my foster mom every where in the apartment. Do not let my age confuse you I am still active! Last night I slept like a King because my foster mom gave me a spot in her bed. This morning I did not want to get up I was so comfy in bed.

I feel very blessed, but also know that there is a new chapter in my life waiting to begin.  Please consider adopting me!  I promise that I will do my best to love you for all the rest of my days.  Please fill out an adoption application.

Age: Around 5 years old
Gender: Male

Milo is a five year old fawn pug.  He was recently surrendered with his brother.  Milo is now in a foster home with his new foster brother and sister whom he gets along with very well.  He loves to follow his foster Mom from room to room.  He will cuddle up on your lap or right next to you, he is a real love bug.  He is a little butterball that weighs 27 lbs.  We are working on helping Milo lose a couple pounds.

Milo is fully housebroken with only one mishap the first day (we think due to be him being nervous about being separated from his brother.) He is great on the leash or in the dog park.  He gets along well with other dogs and is not food-aggressive. Milo would be a great addition to a family with dogs.  Has not been tested with children.  He does not enjoy being crated at night. We have a feeling he was used to sleeping with his brother at night. Thankfully Milo tries to adjust to whatever we throw at him.  He’s a real trooper.

Milo wants to find his forever family!  If you would like to be considered, please fill out an adoption application!

Hi I am Lexi!

I know my name and will come when you call me. I am about 10 1/2 weeks old and 100% puppy.  I love to run and play. I pick up everything I see!  I love give kisses to everyone in the house- animal and human alike.  And when I am tuckered out- I like to be cuddled or sleep on your lap.  I get along great with the other dogs and the kitty.  I sleep in a crate- even though I do not really like it and whine for the first hour. I am working on my potty training and am doing as well as expected for someone my age!.

The vet said I am a bit visually impaired (Lexi’s vision is estimated at least 40% loss, and will more than likely require eye drops for life) and need further eye evaluation. You would never know I had any problems if you see me in action!.

If you think I’m right for you and you’re right for me… then please fill out an adoption application.

*Note:  Lexi will be undergoing some medical evaluation, especially in regards to her vision loss, and therefore is currently “in waiting” until we have a better handle on how to help Lexi keep what quality of vision she still has.  Please be patient with us as we help Lexi and all of our other pugs get ready for their “forever” homes.

Age: Around 10

Hi Everybody,

My name is Hope and I sure “hope” you will read my story. I am not sure if you noticed, but I’m a senior citizen. I am a young 10 year old fawn female. I was used for a lifetime of breeding. I’m a little saggy in the midsection, but never the less, a beautiful girl. At a time in my life when I needed to be loved and cherished for the senior that I am, I was taken to the vet by my owners to be euthanized. Thankfully, my vet knew that I still had a lot of living to do and contacted the good folks at CPR. These wonderful folks at CPR have promised me they are going to find me a safe and loving home to live out my golden years. In the mean time, they sure have set me up pretty good. My foster mommy has a pretty nice pad with a yard for me to walk around. I have two sisters here, although they don’t look like me, they do have 4 legs. While my new sisters and I were sitting around talking, one told me she was omething called a Yorkie & the other one told me she was something called a shih tzu. Even though they don’t look like me, they are pretty cool.

I have some unsteadiness in my rear limbs, I believe due to a little arthritis. I don’t mind taking walks, but not too far & not too fast. My foster mommy says I am what they call housebroken and also pretty good in a crate. Oh, and something else, I don’t bark or make a lot of noise. I really am just a sweet old girl.

I have been seen by the wonderful CPR veterinarian recently, and for a girl my age, I am not on any meds, imagine that!. He told me that I don’t have to run out to buy any of those day of the week pill dispensers. Now I hope you don’t look at me and laugh because of my front tooth. I’m very sensitive about my tooth, however, I say, it gives me character. woof! I am a beautiful “full figured” senior citizen, however, it has been suggested that I slim down my full figure. You would think for a girl at my age I could eat anything I want, but I know us pugs do better when we are a bit thinner.

One last thing, I want you to know that I just want to be with you & loved.  I promise you won’t be sorry if you open your heart & home to me. I just want a home to feel safe & loved to live out the rest of my life. In return, I will shower you with my wonderful Pug kisses & be the perfect “golden girl”. If you think I might be the perfect “senior” for you, please fill out the adoption application!

I'm Available

Age: 7 and 8 years (respectively)
Gender: Male and Female

Here is what Frank and Chyna’s wonderful foster mom has to say:

Frank and Chyna were surrendered as their owner was elderly and could no longer care for herself or them.  Family members sought out CPR for our help.  While at the vet office, it was discovered that Chyna had multiple bladder stones.  Our good Dr. Forbes did surgery on August 10th to remove the 6 bladder stones and clean Chyna’s teeth with one extraction.  Chyna has recovered beautifully and will only need to stay on a special diet to keep healthy.

They are 7 and 8 years old and love each other and of course are precious. They are two of the most special pugs. They get along with my two cats three horses and yes 2 pigs. They are protective yet gentle and completely devoted to people. They love all the other pugs and get on with anyone and adapt very well to anything. They love the barn are very careful around the horses and meet and greet everyone.  They are active yet will be content to just being couch potatoes. I think they would do well with children adults and the elderly in short they are the perfect pugs. They are really no trouble at all.

Because of their history together and how much they love each other, CPR would love to find a forever home that will welcome BOTH Frank and Chyna as a pair.  If you are that special home with a big enough heart for all this pug love, please fill out an adoption application!

Hi there,

I know what you’re thinking: “hey, that doesn’t look like a Pug”.  Well, one of our volunteers saw me at an elementary school parking lot and knew I needed saved.  She couldn’t bear to take me to a shelter and so she asked CPR to help.  They call me Snickers, but you can call me whatever you want; as long as you let me stay right by your side.

I’m very small and petite at 10 lbs and I’m not going to get any bigger.  The vet says I am about one year old and thinks I’m a chihuahua/pug or boston mix.  I just got spayed and I am up to date on vaccines.  I’m ready to go to my forever home!

I get along just fine with the four Pugs and Rottweiler I am living with, but I much prefer the company and warm bed of a human so I would be just as happy as an only child.  I could use a little help with my manners; I just LOVE jumping up on the table to see if there are any delicious treats for me.

If you think that you may be able to help me out… forever… please fill out an adoption application!

Hi CPR Fans,

My name is Sully (short for Sultan) and I was surrendered to county animal control because I had allergic reactions (hot spots/sores) to fleas and ticks and my owners thought someone else could better care for me.  Well thank goodness that CPR was right there to scoop me up from animal control and take me right to the vet.  Not only did have these sores and such on my body, the vet found out I’m also positive for heartworm!  Oh no!  But don’t fear, I don’t think its too bad and I’m gonna get all fixed up here in the next couple of weeks so that I’m ready to go to my new home.  In the meantime, CPR is also going to have the vet neuter me ‘cause that hasn’t been done yet.  I’m not sure what that means, but I’m sure it won’t be too bad!

For now, I’m just relaxing (literally as you can see in my photos) in my foster home with my foster dads and my foster brothers.  They’re all pretty swell guys and I really can’t complain.  I just have to take it easy until the doctor gives me the “all clear.” In the meantime, if you think you may be the perfect home for me when I’m ready, why don’t you fill out an adoption application so the CPR folks can start checkin’ ya out!

Until later,
Sully

Hi Pug Lovers,

I’m Brittney and I am just one little bundle of pug energy!  I was recently surrendered to CPR because my former owners could no longer keep me.  I’m not sure they took enough to get to know me… because I think if you get to know me, YOU’LL LOVE ME!

Since coming to CPR I have been in a very loving foster home, I have been spayed (so I don’t have to deal with all that baby drama!) and I have been well taken care of.  As loving and snuggly as I am, my foster mom says that I will probably need some puppy obedience training and I definitely need to work on the potty training thing.  My last owners kept me outside (yes, even in this humid heat of south Florida) and so the whole potty thing confuses me… but I’m working on it!

So anyway, I really am just looking for the right family to welcome me into their home… forever.  Are you my match?  If so, please fill out an adoption application right away!

Pug hugs to you all!

Hi Everyone,

I like to introduce myself.  I am Roxy the wonderfully fabulous 6 month old sharpie/pug mix.  My previous family fell on hard times and could no longer keep me so now I am with a very loving foster family.  I have “cherry eye” that needs surgery and a spay but don’t worry CPR is going to get me all fixed up and ready for my FOREVER home.  Unfortunately when the vet was checking me out for my surgeries, they also found out I have something wrong with my kidneys.  We have to wait to find out what it is and what can be done.  So I may have to spend a little more time in rescue than originally planned.

My foster mommy says that I am just as sweet as can be.  I get along great with kids, dogs, and just about anyone I meet.  I love to give kisses and cuddle, play with my foster brother’s and sister but I never really bark.  I am a very smart girl and am crate trained but need a little more work on my potty training; other then that I am just about perfect.  If you think I may be the perfect addition to your family please fill out an adoption application and ask for Roxy.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

XOXO - Roxy

Update 8/10
Hi guys!  Its me Barry again!

My one year anniversary with CPR has come and gone on July 10th.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my foster moms, but I long for a forever home of my own.  You should see me now!  Since I;ve come into rescue, I have made tremendous strides (literally) with my recovery.  I now can walk around the block a few times with no problem and I can do the “Pugtonia”, just like any other fun loving pug.  Because of my disc injury, I am not always be able to completely eliminate outdoors and I do leak when I’m excited.  All you need is a belly band/diaper for me most of the time, except at nighttime.

I am an absolute lovebug, get along great with humans and other pets and I sure would love to go to my forever home.  So, what do you think? Can you handle a handsome devil in your life?

Give CPR a call and make my dream come true! -xoxo Barry

8/09
Barry is an absolutely gorgeous black pug with the softest fur imaginable. He was surrendered to Animal Control by his owners and all they would say was they didn’t want him anymore. They did not give any history or explanation for his condition, so we can only speculate. What we do know is when we got him, he could not walk, or even stand on his own. He tried hard to balance if you stood him up, but he was not able to get his legs under his body without assistance.

He has been getting baths daily, and his burned skin is clearing up nicely with medication. We brought Barry to a Rehab Clinic and he responded very well to physical therapy (walking on the treadmill under water). His doctor reported he was doing 100% better and was also treating him with steroids. He was holding his urine and even walking on his own after just two weeks!  Of course, he is a work in progress, so no promises on the wee wee situation.  We haven’t gotten a definite diagnosis, but the doctors feel it is either a spinal defect or injury.

He is approximately 5 years old and weighs 17 lbs. He is very sweet and is now out of the hospital in a foster home. We are looking for the right home, foster and/or adoptive, that can commit to continuing Barry’s therapy and working with him to get as healthy as possible. Are you that family?? If you would like to provide a loving home for Barry, please fill out an adoption application

Hi I am about two years old and love to play play play.  That may be my middle name.  I was surrendered to CPR with my “daughter” Chloe, who thankfully has been adopted to a great home!  Now that she is taken care of, its my turn.

My first day in my foster home I found that I can lounge in their pool.  I love to hang out on the steps and play with my water toy. I sleep in my crate at night and during the day love to sleep by your feet.  My underbite will keep you smiling all the time.  Oh I do have some agile legs that can get me into places I should not be at times (like counters, chairs, etc).  I’m a bit of an “escape artist” because I’m so smart so I need to go to a pretty secure home!  I am sure if someone spent some time training me I would learn quickly. I am also learning good potty habits too.

Remember I am a beagle and pug mix called a PUGGLE.

Update 8/25/10
Ginger has recovered from her palate surgery and spay and is ready for her special forever home.  The first pic is Ginger now.  She is a beautiful little girl who is content being by your side as an only pug but gets along well with other dogs as well. She is not crazy about cats!  She loves her walks but they must be kept short as she does not tolerate the heat very well. Ginger does have a heavy nose roll which enhances her beauty, but does take a little extra care for gentle daily cleaning.

Hi Everyone,

Let me introduce myself. My name is Ginger. I am a beautiful 3 year old female pug. I know I didn’t have to tell you how beautiful I am since you can see that from my picture. Thankfully I found my way to the good folks at CPR through County Animal Services. See, my owners surrendered me to the animal shelter because I had some difficulty breathing. The folks at the shelter happen to know that CPR would take good care of me & get me feeling better. With one quick phone call to the CPR angel, she came to pick me up & could see that I needed medical help right away. I thought I was taken in a “pugbulance” to the hospital, but I later found out it was just a regular human car. Anyway, once I got to the hospital & the hospital staff took one look at me, they knew I needed help “stat”. I was really struggling for my breath & if you know us pugs at all, you know that is not an easy task under good healthy conditions. After the good Dr at the hospital examined me, he determined that I had what was called an elongated palate. The doc told me it was one of the worse cases he had ever seen. In no time flat, the hospital staff prepped me for emergency surgery since my airway was closing up. After fixing my palate, while I was still under, the good Dr also did a little “nose job” on me. Imagine that, I had a nose job. The Dr felt by making my nostrils larger, it would make it easier for me to breath.

If you are willing to open your heart & your home & adopt me into your family, I promise, you won’t be sorry! I will smother you with pug kisses & sit on your lap as long as you want me to. If you think I am the perfect little girl to add to your family, please ask for Ginger (that’s me) on your adoption application. Bye for now!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

This is Molly again (aka “Lil’ Miss Pretty")!  Despite my dark past, I am gradually recovering and getting lots of much needed TLC… we ladies need lots of that!  I am doing fantastic after my heartworm treatment and I am ready for my forever home!

I have finished my antibiotics and my ulceration has healed in my eye!  I just need my special eye drops to keep my peepers in top shape. I am now batting my lashes and showing off my beautiful eyes.  You don’t have to worry about accidents because I am house broken.  I am hearing impaired, but it doesn’t bother me at all!  In fact, I don’t get any interruptions during my beauty sleep… It has made me quite the deep sleeper!  My foster mom is also teaching me sign language so if you give me a chance I could show you everything I’ve learned!

I don’t like being crated (I can be quite vocal when I’m put behind bars), but I don’t mind being left in a restricted area of the house. I love being around my foster family and following my foster mom around the house… She gives me lots of hugs, kisses and belly rubs.  I’m getting really used to those so I really hope my future family will be just as affectionate.  I love playing with my nylabone… I never knew how much fun those bones could be!!  Since I had my heart broken in the past, I am very cautious around new faces… A family that is patient and understanding with me will really help me flourish!  I am looking for love and have plenty of love to share! I like being the center of attention so you get major brownie points if you are looking for an only child!  Could you be my special family?

Hello senior Pug lovers, my name is Cookie. I am a young 10 year old fawn female senior. At a time in my life when I needed to be loved and cherished for the senior that I am, I was surrendered to a certain death sentence at the pound. Thankfully because of the good folks at CPR, they are going to find me a safe and loving home to live out my golden years.

I have some lameness in my rear limbs due to hip dysplasia, however, you wouldn’t know it since I am so high spirited. I like to take off running-and do, but sometimes lose my balance because of my hips.

I have been seen by the wonderful CPR veterinarian recently and he told me that I have a urinary tract infection, periodontal disease, and possible cataracts---imagine that!  With that news, CPR is deciding how I can best be helped for those things.

Now for the bad news.  While I was at the vet, the Dr told us that he feels certain I have a mammary tumor. He told us that for a senior gal like me to undergoing surgery, it is a risk. He suggested that first I slim down my “full” figure before surgery is even considered to remove the tumor and have my teeth cleaned. The Dr also suggested the option of not doing anything at all.

One last thing I forgot to mention, I can be quite vocal when I am crated. I’m just not crazy about that thing. I want to be with you & not separated by wires of a crate. I promise you won’t be sorry if you open your heart & home to me. I just want a home to feel safe & loved to live out the rest of my life. In return, I will shower you with my wonderful pug kisses & be the perfect “golden girl”. My name is Duncan and I was found wandering the streets of Miami in a little bit of rough shape.  I am a SFM (Single, Fawn, Male) If you are a Twilight Fan, I am your “Edward”. My under bite gives me a bit of a handsome vampire fang look! Don’t worry I won’t bite you, but I will defiantly kiss you! I like walks in the park, lots of attention, scratches behind the ears, good food, and general lovin’. They found me on the streets of South Miami, but that is the past, and let’s not talk about the past on first dates. Let’s talk about our future together. Well, you do the talking and I will do the listening.

I am getting all fixed up, including getting fixed (don’t mention this to the ladies). My coat needs a bit of work but as soon as some as my skin condition clears up, you will see I am very handsome, if I do say so myself. Just so you know, I also enjoy taking baths, scrub a dub dub! I am a big guy almost 30 lbs, and I really like to follow you around and explore my surroundings. I am a very good companion, I love hanging out with you, and staying in for a nice blockbuster night with popcorn. PLEASE can I have some popcorn?

Oh, I have lots of jokes, so you better have a sense of humor! My tongue is usually hanging out the side of my mouth, and some people might say I need braces but that just gives me a certain, je ne sais quoi!

If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application and ask for me. They call me Dunkin Donuts, but you cancall me anything you like, except late for dinner. (BTW, if I could get my paws on some doggie Dunkin Donuts that would be a dream come true.)

I only have two minor problems. I am deaf and blind! Like I said, they are minor because that doesn’t slow me down one bit.  Most people don’t realize I have any problems because I am so cute, my eyes are beautiful and my sense of smell is spectacular! I can sense you in the room and you can not hide the food from me! I am a real chow hound.

Hi, my name is Oliver, or Oli for short.  My former home was not able to care for me any longer due to difficult times and knew CPR could help. I am 6 years old and everyone tells me that I am really handsome and sweet.  I don’t see very well but that does not prevent me from strutting my stuff, once I learn where everything is.  I do see light and shadows and have a keen sense of smell when it is dinnertime-although I’ve lost a few teeth along the way too.

I am very well behaved.  My favorite things to do are playing, cuddling and helping around the kitchen (I am an excellent kitchen supervisor and I love to sample).  I mostly like spending time with my people!

I am looking for someone to love me as much as I will love them.  I’m okay with having brothers and sisters, but I would get along just fine if it was just you and me.  Would you be my forever home?  I hope to hear from you soon.  Please fill out an adoption application.

HOLA!  My name is Luigi (aka Pudgy) and I am going to be 7 in July.  I understand spanish and am learning english in my foster home so if you speak spanish that will be a bonus for me.  I get along well with other dogs but do not seem that fond of cats as I do not like to hear the MEOW..boy does that make me go loco (crazy).

My face has some gray in it but I think it is my unusual coloring and not my age..it makes me look so distinguished.  I am kind of skinny for a pug which makes it easier for me to climb into your lap to snuggle..which I love to do.  Oh ya I like to sleep in the bed too but I am okay with my crate. I LOVE when you squeak my squeaky toy so I can run and chase it. I am learning my potty manners and doing well.

While I would most likely do well in a home with other pugs or dogs, I would also do great in a home where I’m solo and royally spoiled!  Will you consider me for your new home?  If so, please fill out an adoption application and ask for me, Pudgy!

Hi everyone!  My name is India, but my foster parents call me sweetie. I am 4 years old and full of energy. I love being around people and nothing makes me happier than giving kisses and being your shadow. I’m being fostered in a home with 2 dogs and a cat and we all get along great! I love playing with my foster brother.  He’s a pug like me so I think I would get along best in a home with other dogs.

My foster mom and I are working on teaching me some basic commands, but don’t let that fool you into thinking i’m not a well mannered little lady. I am potty trained but I don’t mind being in my crate either. Oh, and I don’t bark no matter how much my foster brothers try to get me to!! I really am the perfect little angel and would be a great addition to any household.

In Waiting

Age: Approximately 5
Gender: Female

Allie could not be sweeter.  She does not jump and is fully doggie-door trained.  She loves nothing more than to sit next to you on the couch.  She doesn’t like to jump so you have to lift her up next to you. She is sweet and gentle with kids and gives little kisses. She sleeps either on the bed if you lift her up on to the bed and will sleep the whole night.  Allie does snore a little like most great pugs do.

Allie also has made fast friends with Arthur, our Basset Hound, and with Winnie, our Pug. She is a wonderful sweet and gentle girl and would make a wonderful asset to any family. If you are interested in adopting Allie into your home forever, please fill out an adoption application.

Hi, I’m Thor and I have to say I am very proud of my gray face, I think it makes me look wise. I’ve had a hard life, and I am looking for someone that will love me in my old age.

I was adopted 4 years ago from another rescue, Planet Pugs and my parents took very good care of me. Sadly, they lost their home to foreclosure and could not keep me, but the nice people of CPR are helping me find a new home.

I know that my chances of finding someone to want an old fellow like me are slim, but I hope you will consider giving me a place in your home and heart. I have a lot of love to give and would like to join your family. I hope you can look past a few of my faults and let me share my life with you. I do have a small limp and a little arthritis, but that will never keep me from giving you a hug.

I also have a few degenerative discs, that sometimes make me poop on the floor, but I never mean to. If you would like to get to know the sweet guy I am, please fill out this adoption application and the nice people from CPR will contact you.

If you would like to help Thor in his quest to find a new home, but can not adopt him. Please consider becoming his foster angel. Help us care for Thor’s medical needs, while we work hard to find him that very special home and make a secure donation by clicking on the bone below.

Hi, I am Papa. I am a little quirky but once you get to know me, you will love me.

I lost my eye as the result of being hit by a car. But as you can see by my pictures, I am still good lookin’.  I like to be by your side and will shadow you. My foster mom calls me her co-pilot because I am with her wherever she goes.

I get along great with other dogs and cats but birds drive me crazy.  I love to play fetch with a tennis ball. Yes, I will actually bring the ball back to you!  I am still working on my housebreaking.  If you are interested in a handsome guy like me, fill out an adoption application for Papa!

Update January 2010

It’s Cotton and sister Jodi.  Things are going well with our foster family; there are lots of other dogs here to play with.  We’ve been here since Labor Day and we’re wondering why nobody has adopted us yet?  We don’t chew anything up, we sleep together in our bed, and we are very sweet.

Although we are middle aged, we are very healthy and happy girls.  I take my eyedrops twice a day and don’t give my foster mommy any fuss.  We get along with other dogs or would be happy with just the two of us.  We stay in a crate together while mom is at work all day and we don’t mind it at all (as long as you coax us in with a treat)!

So if you have anyone who wants to share their homes with us girls, let us know!  Pugs and kisses!

Cotton and Jodi joined our three-dog, one bird home about two weeks ago.  Never having a senior pug before, I expected two “little old ladies” that would just lay around and sleep all day.  Boy, was I wrong!  The only thing “old lady” about these two darlings is the fact that they wake up at the crack of dawn.  They are very much full of life, even more so than my three and five year olds.

They take care of each other and they’re never more than three feet apart.  All they need is a warm bed, food twice a day, and some eye drops (which they take very easily).

Marcia at CPR has told me more than once that I would prefer an older pug and I didn’t understand why.  Now, I am a believer.  I hope that someone will open their minds sooner than I did, so they can see what I see.  Anyone who lets these girls in to their hearts will not be disappointed. Please fill out an adoption application to adopt us, Jodi and Cotton.

Hi!  My name is Buster, but my foster family and friends call me the Busteroo! I have a wonderful and by choice permanent smile - I’m a happy guy, and a little trot in my step!  I also like to relax and snooze during the day - I’m pretty low maintenance.

I get along with other pugs/dogs and with children.  My foster family is taking good care of me, but I am really looking for a long term family that will take care of my in my senior years.  I have a couple of issues.  I really cannot see very well, however, I know this is not unusual for a pug my age.  I use eye drops daily.  I easily adjust to new environments, navigate on my own and learn the lay of the land quickly.

I love a backyard to trot around in (though not when it is too hot), I walk on a leash and I am potty trained - though I am working on breaking my marking habit.

Please consider me for adoption.  I am a wonderful and lovable companion.

You can apply to adopt me by filling out an adoption application.

In Waiting

Age: 4ish
Gender: Female

Pics updated 8/25/10

Little Doris came to us from animal services just howling in pain and confusion!  Due to an injury of some sort her tail needed amputation and is now only about 2 inches long.  It was swollen, and red, and you could just tell how much it was hurting her by her frantic breathing and constant circling.

Her right eye was also just a memory, from some previous puncture-type injury it cannot be brought back, but at least she is in no pain from that.  After some really good pain meds she calmed down and began to respond very well, and a treatment plan was begun.

She was taken to the Vet for some bloodwork, and a good once-over, after which an appointment was made to visit the Ophthalmologist for a complete eye evaluation.  The news was not good - Not only was the right eye gone (at least it doesn’t need to be removed), but there is retinal degeneration in the left eye.  This means that eventually she will lose the sight in that eye also.

The good news is that it may even take years, and we have a treatment plan to hold off the inevitable.  By taking several supplements daily (fish oil, grape seed extract, and lutein), we are hoping to stave off the antioxidants that do the damage.

When Doris gets out of the “In Waiting” category our fervent hope is that the right home for her can be found where she can settle in, and perhaps even bond with another dog whom she can follow around.  That way, if she does lose her vision over time she will already be familiar enough with her surroundings that it will not matter as much to her.

Age: Around 15
Gender: Male

Hello there pug lovers!  My name is Snoopy.  I may not be the youngest pug here, but my foster mom says that sometimes I get so excited and playful that I remind her of a puppy.  My vision isn’t great, technically I’m blind, but I can see shadows so that helps me get around.  Lucky, for me I have a keen sense of smell so that really helps me find my way and if you are in the room I can smell you out!  It is quite surprising how well I can get along once I learn the layout of the house.  I get a few eye drops that have really made a difference in my eyes.  The drops help keep my eyes moist so that it is easy for me to blink.

One thing that I have learned in life is to go potty outside.  Just tell me the potty schedule and if you keep with the schedule I will hold up my end of the deal.

In the evenings, I love to cuddle on the couch or snooze on your lap.  And when you get home, I will be there to greet you every day with this gorgeous face and a wagging tail.

What do you say?  You want me to greet you at the door each night after a hard day at the office?  If so, just fill out this adoption application.

Hi Pug Lovers,

My name is Napoloen and I’m 5 years old.  Last week I was brought to an animal shelter in Naples with my brother, Milo… but thankfully I didn’t stay there long at all.  CPR came and scooped me us up right away and now we’re in good hands.  I was taken to the vets where I was given some shots and neutered (ouch!)!

I was placed into a foster home and I’m settling in nicely. My foster Mom said I’m such a good boy, so well-behaved.  The foster home has chiahuahuas (they can be very yappy) but I never bark back at them, I get along with cats too.  I am a real cuddler.....and am happy to just relax in my bed or on your lap....My foster parents say I’m not agressive at all even at feeding time.  I am housebroken and love to go on short walks and also enjoy the freedom of a fenced in back yard.

I am looking for my forever home.  If you can help me out, I’d really appreciate it.  Please fill out an adoption application right away!

Age: Around 10

Hi everyone! My name is Huggy Bear, and I am a sweet and handsome 10 year old Pug rescued from the pound. My owners couldn’t keep me anymore and CPR picked me up to find me the perfect home. A little about me: like most pugs, I love everyone! I follow my foster mom and dad around and lay by their sides. I get along with my foster dog brother and kitties, too. I don’t bark, but sometimes I like to talk and sing to you. My foster mom says I have a good little singing voice!

I do have a confession-I was only recently neutered. I know, a little late in life, but to me age is just a number! I’m getting acquainted with walking on a leash and sometimes need a little encouragement to keep walking. I’m not too fond of crates, either, but I’m learning. Maybe you can help me?

And yes, that is ME swimming with my pal Papa pug.  Don’t let my age fool you.  I’m an active sweet dog ready for life!

So, what do you think? Wouldn’t you love to have a handsome, loveable guy like me? If you love my sweet face and want to hear me sing, please fill out an adoption application and ask for Huggy Bear.

Greetings All!

My name is Tinka and I am a gorgeous 6 year old pug.  My parents loved me but had to let me go because they were moving and couldn’t bring me to their new place.  Imagine how sad I was!  I was so lucky to find a wonderful foster family who adore me.  My foster Mommy says I am the sweetest and most well behaved pug she has ever met...and that is saying alot!

I get along like best friends with my foster pug sister and my foster cat sister.  Oh and how I love my 6 year old human sister....I am so gentle and love when she pets me.  Speaking of petting.... I love to roll on my back and have my belly rubbed.  I do need to lose a few pounds and my foster Mommy is working on that....soon I will be trim again.

I am fully housebroken and my foster Mommy gushes that I have no bad habits!  She calls me her little angel and promises that I will be adopted by a wonderful family who will love me forever.....will you be by new family?

If you are interested, please fill out an adoption application and ask for me, Tinka!!!

Age: Approximately 8

Hello Friends!
My name is Kiki and I am a little love bug. As you can see, one of my parents was a pug and the other a Chihuahua. Don’t you agree it’s a beautiful combination? I am tiny and weigh about 10 or so lbs and enjoy the company of others. I walk great on a leash and love to explore. Cuddling and sunning are also favorites. I ended up at the shelter because my parents moved and couldn’t take me. So, I am in market for a new family.

I don’t particular like to be around big dogs, I growl at them to keep them at bay. OK, they scare me. Maybe you can help me get over this. I am fine with ones my size. My favorite place is right beside you on the couch with my head in your lap!  I am lucky to be in a wonderful foster home at the moment but sure would like to make a permanent move for the last time.  Here’s the best part - I am completely house broken! I won’t take up much room, but I will bring a lot of love along to share.

If you would like to provide me loving home, please fill out an adoption application.

Love, Kiki

I've Been Adopted!

Age: Under 1 year old

Hi pug lovers!

My name is Yoda and I am approximately 7 months old.  I may be incredibly cute, but I tell you I came into CPR a little bit of a mess!  I was pretty sick when I got here and I am so glad that the great folks at CPR have helped me recouperate.

You see I had a pretty nasty cough (respiratory infection) and I was covered in a skin condition that can really wreak havoc (mange.) As you can tell, I have had great treatments the last two weeks and my beautiful shiny black coat is returning to its original luster.  I’m also pretty healed up from cough too, but the CPR folks are gonna look after me for another week or two before I’ll be ready to go to my forever home.

Even through all of this, my foster parents say that I’ve been an enjoyable, entertaining, and sweet companion.  I’m a bit on the fiesty and playful side (what puppy isn’t!?!) and I really enjoy meeting and sniffing other dogs and cats alike.

If you think that I’d be the perfect addition to your home and family in a couple of weeks, then fill out an adoption application

I’d love to make you a happy complete family.
